4.   Don't Pop It!

8.  Sprout That Bean!
Place bean seeds in a clear zip-lock bag with a piece of wet paper towel. (Drop the bean in between the side of the bag and the paper towel. Keep the towel moist, not soaked. Within 3 days a root will appear and in a week or so, the sprout will show. This is a great way for kids to seen that the roots go down, and the plant grows up. The bean plant also grows very rapidly, and so it's exciting to watch as the days go by.  You can measure growth. After about two weeks or so, it's a good idea to plant the beans into soil.

11.   Shadow Tracing
Trace shadow of children on driveway with colored chalk and let the children color them in!

13.   Grassy Man
Grow grass seed in individual Styrofoam or plastic disposable cups. One for each child. While cup is still empty have each child make a face or his or her cup. As grass grows it looks like hair and then children can cut it and watch it grow long again. Great for the haircutting preschoolers!!

15.    Keepsake Handprints
Get a small handful of Model Magic and spread out to a little bigger than child's or adults hand, use the bowl or plate to use as a guide for the shape. You can also use this idea for a footprint. Press the hand into the model magic to make an impression in the clay. When you feel you have made an impression peel of hand and set out to dry for at least 24 hours. When Model Magic is set or hard to desire, paint the handprint or footprint in favorite color. You can also paint the outer edges of hand a different color. Let paint dry and give as a great keepsake gift.

19.    Watch It Rain!
Poke 6-8 holes in the bottom of the bottle.  Fill with water while covering holes.  Put lid on. Water should stay in. In front of children, hold bottle over a bowl or sink and open the lid slightly (do not remove completely). Water should sprinkle or "rain" out the bottom. Close lid again to make it stop raining.

21.   Sink or Float?
Get a fairly large, clear container. Gather items from around the house or better yet, have the children gather them. Before dropping it into the container, have the children predict whether it will sink or float. Chart the children for each item and for each prediction, then list what actually happened. It will be interesting to see if their guess was correct. It is fun to hear why they think it sunk or floated.

26.    Paper Ice Cream Cones
Need circles traced on different colors of construction paper as well as triangles traced on brown paper.  Let kids pick out different "flavors" to cut out and glue on the "cone".   Real sprinkles are something the kids love to add.
