22.    Alphabet Book
One fun way to help with letter recognition is to make an Alphabet Book. Each week choose a new letter to work on. Write the upper and lower case letter on a piece of white paper, then  go through old magazines to find pictures that begin with that letter. Let them cut them out and glue them on the paper which helps them improve their cutting skills too! Use a 3 hole punch and put it into a folder or notebook to make a book. They will love to look at it over and over.

25.  Birdseed Garden
Place a sponge soaked with water in a plastic plate or bowl and allow child to sprinke it with birdseeds. Place the plate in a sunny place and watch for the seeds to sprout! The seeds will continue to sprout as long as the child keeps water in the plate. You may want to cover the sponge loosely with plastic wrap the first couple of days.

29.  Back to School "Backwards" Dinner
On the first day of school every year have a "Back to School" dinner. Eat backwards! Dessert comes first. Kids think this is great. It helps to make the end of summer just a little more fun. You might  rarely get past dessert and rolls but always include a big glass of milk. What a memory maker it is!!!
