~*~  General reminder about weather!  School will operate under the same schedule as the Delaware Community School Corporation except for opening and closing dates.  Please listen to the radio about school closings during inclement weather.   If Delaware Community Schools are closed, so is CCPS.  If there is a 2 hr. delay, we will not have any morning classes, but will have afternoon sessions. Closings may also occur at the discretion of the director.  Anytime there is bad weather (rain, snow, extreme cold), the lights under the carport will be on so please pick up or drop off your child there. We try to leave the lights on to remind you, but sometimes someone beats us and stops down below. Generally, we dismiss and pick up from the carport from Dec. to Spring Break, just to make it easier for everyone.

• Lowe's "Kids Clinics"-build something fun with your children!  The 2nd Sat. of each month our local Lowe's has a workshop where a parent comes with a child at 10:00 and they build something to take home.  Cost is absolutely FREE!   Lasts about 1/2 hr. to an hour!  Call Lowe's if you need more details. (287-1606)

• It is my understanding that if you have a Muncie Public Library card, there are free passes to Minnetrista Cultural Center as well as the Muncie Children's Museum that you may check out with your card.  These passes allow a family to gain free admission to both places.  Please call the library at 747-8204 for more information!!  What a deal...

~*~   Are your kids too "wired" for their own good??  At CCPS we encourage children to take a healthier approach in life by giving up TV/DVD players (including video games) etc. and engaging in other activities.  We feel that today's kids/families need to break free of this compulsive engagement with screens and spend more time in the physical company of other people.  Just as important is for parents and educators to teach kids, preferably by example, that it's valuable, even essential, to occasionally slow down, unplug and take time to think about something for a while.  If you are not having family dinner, you are not having conversations, or just taking time just to veg together, then you are not taking time to nurture these little brains.  Here is an interesting site for you to visit!
